Community Action Agency Financial Network e-Forum
The CAA Financial Network e-Forum, a listserv that enables Community Action
Agency (CAA) fiscal professionals across the country to share
information, provide informal peer-to-peer assistance on financial issues, and
benefit from financial experts’ input. The e-Forum is moderated by Community
Action Program Legal Services, Inc. (CAPLAW) and is open to all who wish to
join. You do not have to be a member of CAPLAW to join the e-Forum.
Joining the e-Forum
To join the CAA Financial Network e-Forum visit
http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/caafinancialnetwork/ and click on the
blue button in the upper right hand corner that reads "Join This Group!". You
do not have to be a member of CAPLAW to join the Financial Network e-Forum.
(Note: You will have to sign up for a Yahoo! ID, if you do not have one already,
before joining the CAA Financial Network e-Forum. Please follow Yahoo's
instructions as prompted. If you already have a Yahoo! ID and password, you
can use the same ID and password to join Yahoo! Groups.
Posting Messages
To post messages to the e-Forum, simply send an email to
CAAFinancialNetwork@yahoogroups.com. In the subject field, please put a
brief description of the topic of your message. In the body of the message,
present your questions or comments. Please include your name and contact
information at the bottom of every message, so others my contact you
individually if they choose. (Note: When you hit "Send," your message will be
sent to all subscribers on the list.
Replying to Messages
To respond to any inquiry posted on the e-Forum, simply click "Reply" and type
in your response. Please include your name and contact information at the end
of your message so others may contact you individually if the choose.
When you send (or reply to) a question on the e-Forum, all e-Forum members
will receive your message. To respond privately to someone, send a new
message to that person's individual e-mail address.
Unsubscribing
If you do not wish to belong to the e-Forum, you may unsubscribe by sending
an email to CAAFinancialNetwork-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com.

New 2005 Reporting Requirements and 2005 Form Changes
Certain provisions of the Pension Protection Act of 2006 result in new
reporting requirements for exempt organization required to file 2005
Forms 990, 990-EZ, 990-PF, 990-T and 4720. The 2005 form and instructions
will not be changed to reflect these reporting requirements. For instructions
please click here.
Visit this page on the IRS website to learn more about changes to the 2006
Form 990. Not also that 501(c)(3) organizations that file Form 990-T (to report
and pay unrelated business income tax) after August 17, 2006, must make
that form open to public inspection, along with the rest of their Form 990.
IRS Launches On-Line Workshop for Exempt Organizations
The Internal Revenue Service has launched a new Web-based version of its
popular exempt organizations Workshop covering tax compliance issues
confronted by small and mid-sized tax exempt organizations.
The free online workshop - Stay Exempt - Tax Basics for 501(c)(3)s -
consists of five interactive modules on tax compliance topics for exempt
organizations:
Tax-Exempt Status - How you keep your 501(c)(3) exempt?
Unrelated Business Income - Does your organization generate taxable
income?
Employment Issues - How should you treat your workers for tax
purposes?
Form 990 - Would you like to file an error-free return?
Required Disclosures - To whom do you have to show your records?

Users can complete the modules in any order and repeat them as many times
they like. The online Training website does not require registration and its
visitors will remain anonymous.
